Wow! Summer’s over?! That was certainly quick, at least around my house, (as we renovated and moved!), and a lot of things went on around this church. The garden has been producing nicely with help from a small group of volunteers, and we enjoyed some wonderful produce. We hope to plant some winter crops soon.
The cooking classes were absolutely fabulous! Eunice hosted our first session, and did an excellent job of organizing and directing the process with the dozen that came to learn a new dish - and eat it! Sitting in for Julia Childs on the 27th, Phyllis Hardy treated her students and their senses to Boulez Sauté, a simply sumptuous sautéed chicken dish. I once was amazed, but now only amused by the number of ways we have found to consume yet one more chicken.
The Melodrama was a lot of fun for a group of about 20 when we cheered the hero, booed the villain and sighed with the damsel in distress. There were Presbyterians strategically posted in prominent locations - I believe I had the best seat in the house - center, top, back; while Joan Jaco and some Spanglers and Kents were right up front. It was truly hilarious; a good time was had by all.
